Adult Faith Formation: Catechumenate
Catechumenate is an ancient church tradition for the formation of faith in adults. The catechumenate is a process, not a programme. Each week the group gathers with leaders (who are lay people on a faith journey too) and reflects on the Bible reading for the coming Sunday. The group discovers points of connection between their own lives and scripture.
There are no textbooks to read, no essays to write. All you need is an inquiring mind open to your own questions and the questions of others.
The catechumenate is a process in stages from October to May with the focal point being baptism, or confirmation, or renewal of vows for candidates on Holy Saturday (Easter Eve).
Whether you are new to faith and the church or have been around a while the catechumenate offers you an opportunity for faith development which is challenging, nurturing, and exciting, all at the same time !
